GRETNA v. COWDENBEATH MATCH REPORT (BELLS CUP 2nd ROUND)

Another win for Gretna as Cowdenbeath
fall for the second time in a week.
Just
before the 45 minute mark andy smith fired home for Gretna
to give them the lead into the break.
It was worked by David bingham who lost his marker and
passed the ball to the experienced andy smith who fired
it in the roof of the net.
Gretna
were awarded a Penalty when Alan Flemming brought down
Smith in the box, the chance was wasted as Baldacchino
blasted high over the bar.
The
equiliser was scored in the 54th minute when Paul McCale
slotted the ball past David Maithiesson.
Only 8 minutes later Man of the match, Bingham put gretna
back in front as David Irons supplied a wonderful cross
which Bingham drilled home in the bottom corner.
Later,
thanks to another quality save from Maithieson Gretna
remained 2:1 up.
Nearing the end of the game, Gretna began to dominate
but the Cowdenbeath keeper kept the goal tally down to
2.
